Mela 5 – AUv3: Synth, FX, MIDI 5.4

Mela is a versatile music production tool that adapts to your requirements. Featuring a user-friendly interface, it enables users to construct fully customized polyphonic synthesizers, unique audio effects, and intricate MIDI processors seamlessly. Mela can be utilized as a standalone application on iOS and macOS or as an AUv3 plug-in within various DAWs such as AUM, Drambo, Logic Pro, among others.

Within Mela, presets are assembled using modules situated on lanes, with each lane processing both audio and MIDI signals. Lanes have the ability to send and receive signals to and from the host and other lanes. Modulator modules allow for modulation of any parameter of any module on any lane. The easy addition, removal, or rearrangement of lanes and modules facilitates the creation of presets ranging from simple to complex. Mela offers 59 modules initially, with new ones continuously added through updates.

Some examples of module categories include:

• MIDI processors: arpeggiator, chord, note echo, scale, strummer
• Synth building blocks: virtual-analog oscillator, FM operator, phaseshaping, noise, VA filter, amp envelope
• Modulators: envelope follower, envelope generator, LFO, macro control, MIDI source, random
• Audio effects: chorus, delay, distortion, flanger, phaser, compressor, comb filter, EQ, stereo panner
• Utility: level metering, audio oscilloscope, MIDI capture, MIDI logger, note pad

Mela can be loaded as an Instrument, Audio Effect, or MIDI Processor plug-in within a host. The main distinction among them lies in the number of audio and MIDI inputs and outputs. However, the features remain consistent across types allowing presets created in one type to be accessed in another.

The modules are categorized into different collections. Collection 0 is available for free for users to explore Mela's functionalities. Other collections can be acquired via in-app purchases. New modules will be added to Collection 3 throughout 2024. By purchasing it now, users can access newly unlocked modules as they are released.
